In The Beginning

In The Beginning

The beginning was a story. Ray Gasperson is our benefactor in providing the hay wagon we use as a float, and Ray was late getting there because Ray is always late getting there. It had never been a problem before, though, Corinne and Walter just get there early and hold a spot, and the float arrives when it arrives. Well, this year the line-up was a disaster. 176 was blocked in both lanes so Ray couldn't get to our spot whether he was there or not. The marshals were grumpy even for them, so Ray got stuck on Ozone Drive at the end of the parade, rather than our #29 slot.

Hop Foster, the Master of Ceremonies, saved the day, arriving in the golf cart that exudes power, even to a marshal, and safely escorted us through the throng to our spot. In the meantime, though, half our troops were frantically decorating the float upstream, and the other half guarded the space, as you see.

Such is Coon Dog Day.
